Slow PC Problems

One of the biggest issues that PC users face is finding out the reason why their machines run slowly even if they have great specs. You can without doubt spend more time attempting to fix the issue than slow performance causes to lose and even Windows 7 is not free from this.

The first step to speed up boot time is to disable unwanted programs that run automatically during start up. If you are not sure which program to disable then you can use Autoruns- a free utility from Microsoft. This utility helps to categorize the programs that start when Windows loads and it hides Windows’ start up entries so that you don’t uncheck an entry that must auto start.

Malwares can slow down the performance level of a PC. Even though you may be using a good anti-malware program and firewall sometimes if they are not up to date then malwares may slip by. So ensure that virus definitions and real-time firewall protection are enabled. Once they are updated full a full scan. Also try running a virus scan with a different antivirus program then you normally use. Too many restore points can also slow down your PC. Microsoft offers a hotfix for this problem. Using of a solid-colour background can also affect performance, to improve start time use a photo as a background.

There are several utilities available that help clean junk data lying on your PC and improve performance. PC Doctor, CCleaner and Tune Up Utilities are some of them. Most of these utility programs clean junk data such as log files, temporary files, restore points and backup files, 0 byte files, memory dumps, cache data etc. Such files put extra load on the system and usually slow it down but the problem may not be always related to software as hardware problems are also known to reduce performance such as a faulty hard-drive power connector.
